See Glass Architecture
Des Baker competition – the theme was “In Between”, so the concept of the design was in between solid and liquid; earth and ocean; natural and man made. Jeanneke and Nicoline designed a structure for jewellery making that would be located on the beach, in between solid and liquid; earth and ocean. The jewellery would be made from sea glass, collected on the beach, and blown glass. Blown glass is in between natural and man made: made from natural elements (sand, seaweed and fire) and then blown by man. Sea glass is in between chance and control: the forms of the shards of glass depends on the ocean, and putting the pieces together to form jewellery is controlled by man. The architecture of the structure is in between liquid and solid: the organic forms of blown glass and angular forms of sea glass shards.
